Why Hyderabad is excellent for yoga teacher training
Hyderabad has a growing community of serious yoga practitioners and several authentic teaching lineages. Unlike Mumbai or Bangalore where yoga has become heavily commercialised, Hyderabad still has teachers who prioritise depth over aesthetics.
The four YTT levels explained
The 50-hour foundation program is ideal for dedicated practitioners who want their first formal introduction to teaching methodology, philosophy, and anatomy. The 100-hour intermediate program expands the asana repertoire, deepens anatomy study, and introduces sequencing principles. The 200-hour program is the internationally recognised standard. Graduates are equipped to teach professionally anywhere in the world. The 300-hour advanced program is for those who have completed 200 hours and want to go deeper — into therapeutic applications, advanced pranayama, and master-level asana refinement.
What separates a good YTT from a certificate mill
The teacher's lineage and depth of personal practice is everything. Ask where the lead trainer studied, for how long, and under whom. Look for programs that cover yoga philosophy, Sanskrit, anatomy and practical teaching methodology — not just advanced asana. The physical practice is perhaps 40% of what a good YTT teaches.
