The fundamental difference
The 200-hour program teaches you to teach. The 300-hour program teaches you to teach deeply. A quality 200-hour gives you the complete foundation — asana, pranayama, anatomy, philosophy, and teaching methodology. The 300-hour builds on this with therapeutic applications, advanced pranayama and meditation, subtle body study, and master-level asana refinement.
When you are ready for the 300-hour
When you have taught regularly for at least a year after your 200-hour and find yourself wanting more depth. Teaching is the fastest path to learning — the gaps in your understanding become clear when you stand in front of students.
Is the 300-hour necessary for a successful career?
No. Many excellent professional teachers have only a 200-hour certification. However, for those who want to teach therapeutically — working with students who have health conditions — the 300-hour therapeutic yoga modules are strongly recommended.
